Hair Trend We Love: Ombre!

Hair Trend We Love: Ombre!

You’ve probably heard the term ombre being thrown around in reference to hair and been wondering what that is exactly. The ombre look is the melding of color from darker at the roots to lighter on the ends of the hair. The effect can be used to be a subtle change creating what look like naturally sun-lightened locks, to a more dramatic effect from a dark brunette to blonde ends.
Many celebrities have tried variations on the ombre. Here are three examples to demonstrate the different effects of this hot trend.
Drew Barrymore has a very dramatic fade, starting with the dark brunette roots, melding into a warm honey blond and into a bright pale blonde. The colors work because of the placement on the hair, notice how the fade starts at the round of her head, and then again around her cheekbones framing her face nicely.
Jessica Biel has a much more subtle ombre fade, with the color on the ends having a less solid look and coming out more like highlights. This effect is really nice for anyone who wants to add a little more drama to their hair without adding more maintenance!
Whitney Port shows that you don’t need to have dark roots to have a pretty ombre style! On lighter hair, the ombre effect will look more like natural highlights, bringing the lighter tones higher up to frame the face.
Sure this trend has been around for a while, but we don’t see it going away any time soon! The possibilities with color placement are endless on this one. You can even get creative with brighter colors too!
The upkeep on an ombre style is very minimal! After the initial color, you can let your natural grow out or continue just coloring the roots for a couple months until it’s time to bring the lighter pieces up higher on the hair. So if you’ve been feeling a little stuck in a hair color rut and you’re ready for something new, talk with your stylist about ombre!
